...a leading professional, for a leading club... |

Frank J. Coutts
I was born in Aberdeen 1960 and started to play golf when I was 10 years old. I joined DGC in 1971 and represented the club on many occasions at both junior and senior level. I was fortunate to be selected to play for Scotland at all levels, boy, youth and full international from 1977-83 and was Walker Cup reserve in 1981.
I turned professional in 1983 and was assistant to Peter Smith at Murcar Golf Club
I joined DGC in 1989 having been assistant professional and professional at Murcar Golf Club for five years and I had no hesitation in accepting the role of professional.
In 1998 I was given the job of Director of Golf which relieves our Match & Handicap convener of most of his everyday duties and organize the golf at DGC for all the members.
Playing golf has always been a major part of my role even although my playing has reduced greatly at the present time due to my other duties at the club but I managed to win several Pro Am events and runner-up in the Northern Open in1991 and 3rd in 1993.
Teaching gives me great satisfaction and I have been the North East District coach for the last seven years.
